STATE REP. BO MITCHELL ANNOUNCES RUN FOR CONGRESS IN TN-07 SPECIAL ELECTION

Nashville, Tenn. – Today, Democratic State Representative Bo Mitchell (TN-50) announced his intention to run in the special election to replace Congressman Mark Green, who resigned from Congress on Friday after voting for the Big (not at all) Beautiful Bill.

“Now more than ever, Tennessee needs leaders in Congress who will have the courage to fight FOR US, not just cave to political pressure,” said Rep. Bo Mitchell. “I am disgusted by the passage of this big, ugly bill; it will decimate rural health care and close rural hospitals, rip health coverage away from 290,000 Tennesseans, hurt our economy and kick 778,000 of our people off of SNAP, causing more kids across our state to go hungry—all to give giant tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans. I’ll always put the people of Tennessee first. That means I’ll work with anyone in either party when it helps our state, and I will continue to stand up to anyone who tries to hurt our state—like this new law will do.”

Rep. Mitchell has hired Outperform Strategies to oversee his congressional campaign. The firm was co-founded by Eric Hyers who is nationally recognized for electing Democrats in red states, having managed Gov. Steve Bullock’s victorious reelection campaign in Montana in 2016 and two winning gubernatorial campaigns for Gov. Andy Beshear in Kentucky.

A formal campaign kickoff will be announced in the near future.
